Vandervahn Chistu
saKhan, (deceased) Clan Jade Falcon

Known more as a crafty warrior than an able leader, Chistu's fortunes rose and fell during the invasion. During the first three waves, Chistu saw little action as Khan Malthus, the Jade Flacons' junior Khan, acted as warlord and garnered most of the glory by directing military operations. But Malthus' defeat on Twycross gave Chistu a chance to prove his ability as Khan. Chistu began his reign as warlord by naming Kael Pershaw as a high-level advisor, reclaiming the experienced warrior from a series of administrative duties unworthy of Pershaw's stature. Whatever political points Chistu gained in this move, he lost when he helped Khan Elias Crichell re-form the Falcon Guards.

Even though Chistu knew that many of his commanders despised Aidan Pryde, despite his Bloodname, Pershaw recognized abilities in the young warrior that he believed would either make him a great warrior or get him killed, and placing him as commander of the new Falcon Guards, which now consisted mostly of misfits or solahma, seemed a safe appointment. But other Jade Falcon warriors, familiar with the Falcon Guards' history, considered this decision dishonorable. Many felt that even the loss to the Inner Sphere on Twycross did not earn the Falcon Guards such an uncertain future. Star Colonel Aidan Pryde proved them all wrong by creating an effective fighting machine from Clan rejects. The Falcons' showing on Tukayyid and the glory the Falcon Guards earned there vindicated Chistu's judgment.

Khans Chistu and Crichell agreed that the current situation with the Steel Vipers cannot continue. The ilKhan insulted the Falcons by allowing the Vipers to administer the Jade Falcon-conquered worlds, but Falcon Khans are still working out how to solve this problem. Meanwhile, Chistu was directing a raiding campaign against Inner Sphere worlds along the Jade Falcon occupation zone border. Buy making lightning attacks and then returning to Clan space, the Falcons stay within the letter of the Tukayyid treaty, and avoid repeating the humiliation the Falcons suffered in the recent attack Chistu ordered on Morges.

Chistu sees the Clan raids as retaliation for raids the Inner Sphere makes to destroy targets, even though such wanton destruction goes against Clan customs. From what he has seen, Chistu still believed the Inner Sphere is populated by barbarians who would be better off conquered by the Clans.

Elias Crichell allowed Vahn Chistu to create many of the battle strategies during the Refusal War. Chistu and Crichell planned sought to absorb Clan Wolf in order to become a greater Clan, and attain for the Falcons unltimate dream of becoming the ilClan, the Clan who leads the invading Clans on the road to Terra and victory over the Inner Sphere.

SaKhan Vandervahn Chistu sought power for himself and for his senior Khan and Clan. He worked with Khan Crichell to weaken the Wolves so that Clan Jade Falcon could become greater, and possibly the greatest Clan, and lead the invasion to Terra and conquer the Inner Sphere.

In his later days saKhan Vandervahn Chistu along with Khan Elias Crichell implemented conniving stategies to attain power. With the possibility of Crichell to become ilKhan and glory for the Jade Falcons if they succeed, Crichell allowed Chistu to make battle strategies that involved trickery and deception.

At Borealtown, Vahn Chistu waited for Star Colonel Ulric Kerensky and a star of OmniMechs headed for the city center. Chistu waited with a a plan. He allowed Kerensky to make a batchall, and before the battle started, he had two stars of missile loaded 'Mechs rain salvos on the Wolf Omnis. Ulric was killed and the other Wolfs 'Mechs went down also, though one pilot, Star Captain Vladimir would eventually be pulled from the wreckage by Marialle radick and some other Wolf warriors after many hours of being buried.

For years Crichell had tests of his combat capability secretly botched in order to remain in service. Vandervahn Chistu helped hide Crichell's inability to still physically remain a competant warrior.

After returning from the Borealtown wreckage and knowing the truth of Ulric's death, Star Captain Vladimir made accusations against Vahn Chistu. He challenged Chistu to combat, and the two later took it to battle in 'Mechs. The treacherous Vandervahn Chistu was slain in his Executioner by Star Captain Vladimir of Clan Wolf who used a Warhawk that had been from Clan Wolf but had a Jade Falcon insignia newly painted on it because the Jade Falcons had begun their absorbtion of Clan Wolf.

In his arrogance and guile, Chistu sometimes uttered contractions while speaking to other Warriors.

Vandervahn Chistu's favorite 'Mech to pilot was the Executioner.
