Trent was from the same Howell Mechwarrior sibko as Russou and Jez. He was good friends with his sibkin Russou, but he did not get along well with Jez and her competitive mean streak.

Trent was a very skilled and tactical minded MechWarrior. He normally did very well in hand to hand or 'Mech combat. But that eventually did not stand against curruption of superiors, and the failure of the Smoke Jaguars he was among at the Battle of Tukkayid. Trent fought well in Tukkayid and captured a skilled Comstar MechWarrior who piloted a Crab, but the Smoke Jaguars failed the battle anyway. After Trent returned home, he was not respected. Some Jaguar Warriors considered him desgra for participating in the failed battle, and some even questioned his seriousness during the fight.

Back in Jaguar country, some Warriors respected Trent, while others, mostly his superiors and Jez, plotted against him.

Trent managed to be allowed to try for a Bloodname. He chose to use his trusty Timber Wolf in the fight. Unbeknownst to him, Jez had ordered his 'Mech secretly sabotaged so that it would fail during battle. As it turned out, Trent fought in the melee in a large crater. He fought well, and lasted almost to the end, until his 'Mech's legs began to stiffen and refuse to move. As a result, Trent lost his Trial, and he later found out it was from Jez's deceit, though he was not able to prove it.

As time went by Trent's superiors disapproved of him more and more and wanted to end his career. They decided to render him solahma, and send him out of the occupation zone.

With corruption reigning over his life and destroying his honor and carrer, Trent became very frustrated, and his freeborn Inner Sphere bondman Judith Faber worked at that area in him to carry out her plans for Comstar's ROM. She eventually convinced him to help her in the spying on the Clans and attempt to escape. They found a Brian Cache.

Trent's first true role in being traitor to his Clan was when he allowed his bondsman Judith to use a scanner to locate the stars they passed during space travel on the Clan invasion route.

When the Smoke Jaguar leaders found him to be traitor, they ordered Russou to assassinate him. Judith set up a way to botch Trent's death and escape his 'Mech unseen. Russou fired on Trent's 'Mech and destroyed it. Afterward Russou was taken by great guilt and sadness as the thought he killed his best friend and sibkin.

Trent and Judith escaped the Smoke Jaguars and the Clan realm and were taken by the SLDF.

Trent's later and far worse treachery was when he gave the Inner Sphere (SLDF) information on the locations of the Clan invasion route and of all the worlds in Clan space, and the approximated sizes of Clan defenses.
