Horse
Star Captain, freeborn, Jade Falcon Guards, Clan Jade Falcon

His true freeborn name is Tyle, but he became known as Horse because of his sputtering cynical chuckles. Horse has blond hair, a ruddy face, and a fluffy beard and mustache. He is sturdily built and rather thick limbed with hard muscle.

Every Jade Falcon knows MechWarrior Horse as Aidan Pryde's friend and advisor. Even though Horse shared in the glory of the Tukayyid battles won by the Falcon Guards, and earned a mention in The Remembrance, he still puts up with scorn and insults because he is freeborn. Horse's attitude causes most of his problems because he is not affraid to talk tback to a truebornm, and consideres himself a better warrior than many trueborn he has fought beside.

Horse was a freeborn cadet from a younger company who fought against Aidan's more advanced and older trueborn sibko. At the time he hated trueborns and always called them trashborn when he could. As a cadet Horse was tenacious and very strong and good at hand to hand combat, though he was less endowed with technical expertise. After Aidan failed his first Trial of Position and was against Clan law taken back by Ter Roshak to try again for the Warrior's life posing as a freeborn, he was sent to the same sibko as Horse.

Horse immediately recognised the trueborn Aidan who was being called Jorge. They first met in battle on an exercise field on Ironhold when Aidan was with his trueborn sibko. When Aidan joined Horse's unit while masquerading as the freeborn Jorge, Horse remembered him from their earlier fight, but chose to keep Aidan's true identity secret.

Horse said nothing about his knowledge that Jorge was really Aidan to his superiors and the two eventually became friends, sharing, among other things, Aidan's secret cache of books hidden in the barracks wall. During freeborn cadet training, Aidan helped Horse with his technical skills, as he found it difficult, while at the same time their Falconer was a negligent instructor. Horse and Aidan passed their Trial of Position by using teamwork with their two 'Mechs, a rarely used method in testing.

Horse became a fine Falcon warrior, and always remained friends with Aidan, and Aidan is one of the few trueborn warriors Horse respects. When Aidan won his Pryde Bloodname and became Star Colonel of the Falcon Guards, he asked Horse to join him. At first, Horse felt that Aidan had reverted to treating him just as another freebirth. Horse pretended that the change in Aidan's behavior did not matter to him; years of insults and disdain taught him to absorb the pain. He also realized Aidan's new command was in terrible shape, and that his friend was pouring all his efforts and energy into restoring the unit. Aidan still considered Horse his friend, but Aidan's Bloodname and new command changed their relationship.

When the Falcon Guards went to Tukayyid, Horse knew that they would bring either great glory or further insult to Clan Jade Falcon. He fought beside Aidan in every battle, but Aidan forced him to abandon the most important fight; when Aidan fought to save MechWarrior Diana, Aidan's newly-discovered daughter. Horse promised to show Diana the secret books that he and Aidan read in their rare moments of spare time, and he kept that promise. After Aidan died on Tukayyid, Horse became somewat a hero among the Jade Falcons despite his being freeborn because of his relation to Aidan and the fact that he was Aidan's respected friend. Horse received honors for his actions on Tukayyid, including promotion to Star Commander, but he knows that his freebirth status will always keep him from getting the respect he deserves.

Star Captain Horse and his freeborn Trinary was captured on Huntress by Galaxy Commander Russou Howell's Smoke Jaguars. He was subjected to Howell's scrutiny, belittling, and a series of tests of his strength and character and loyalty to Clan Jade Falcon. Horse passed Russou's Trials, often with excellent efficiency. Russou Howell and his subordinates experienced Horse's powerful and hand to and skills, including Logan worth who accidentally died at Horse's hands during a physical fight in which Horse won. Later on, Russou Howell fought Horse in 'Mech combat and lost, an act which stunned the Jaguars. During his captivity, Horse was aided by the athletic, strange, and ninjalike Jade Falcon solahma MechWarrior named Sentania Buhallin, and with her help eventually he and most of his Trinary escaped Russou Howell's stronghold.

When the Steel Vipers sought to challenge Clan Jade Falcon in desire to usurp their occupation zone and criticize their allowing freeborns to be Warriors, Star Captain Horse ended up in a battle with Steel Viper Star Colonel Ivan Sinclair, a very arrogant man who epitomised the Viper attitude toward freeborns. In his Summoner, Horse fought Sinclair's Stormcrow. Horse allowed Sincair's overeagerness to win to increase his 'Mech's damage taking and help impede his ability to be accurate and effective. Horse won the duel, and stunned Ivan Sinclair and Clan Steel Viper by displaying a freeborn beating a trueborn, and not only a trueborn, but one of higher rank.

Horse continues to jokingly insult trueborns behind their backs, and used to crack jokes with Aidan, and also sometimes does so with others he is with. He still has his sense of humor, which is not too well liked by trueborns, but is tolerated.

Star Captain Horse is now somewhat of friends with the mean old Star Commander Joanna. He is also friends with MechWarrior Diana Pryde.

Horse's favorite 'Mechs to pilot are the Summoner and Marauder.
