Diana Pryde is the freeborn daughter of Star Colonel Aidan Pryde and the genetic scientist Peri Watson. Diana was raised by Peri at first, but as a child it showed she had a fierce spirit and a leaning toward combative skills. Diana was transferred out of the Scientist Caste to participate in freeborn training for the Warrior Caste. Diana piloted a Hellbringer when she passed her Trial of Position and became a MechWarrior.

MechWarrior Diana normally acts very trueborn though she is freeborn. Diana is a very good looking woman, but she is completely uninterested in her looks or attracting, and is often angered by people commenting her looks or requesting to couple with her based on her good looks. Tall, slender, and somewhat muscular like a greyhound, she looks a lot like her father Aidan Pryde, but in a female body.

Diana has always been an ambitous and driven person. Through hand to hand combat with another freeborn warrior named Trader, she won her Warhawk OmniMech. Diana used her Warhawk in the Battle of Tukkayid, and used Warhawks for a long time after. Despite her being freeborn, her strong fighting ability and spirit eventually came through and won the respect of many warriors, including trueborns.

On Twycross during the Refusal War, after Joanna found MechWarriors Cholas and Castilla to be young Clan Wolf spies, Diana thwarted their attempts to help the Wolves trick the Jade Falcon forces into a trap. She defeated both Cholas and Castilla in hand to hand, and accidentally sent Cholas over a cliff to his death. Diana also discovered that Star Colonel Ravill Pryde has Clan Wolf genetic heritage.

After the Refusal War, Diana desired the Bloodname Pryde. Though freeborns are not normally allowed to take on Bloodnames, Diana used the case that since she was the daughter of two trueborns she was close to being trueborn. Khan Marthe Pryde finally allowed her to with the forced nomination by Ravill Pryde, and despite complaints from many members of the Warrior Caste. Star Commander Joanna guided and helped train Diana up for her contest. Diana decided to change her 'Mech to a Nova in order to have a greater combat challenge. Diana won her Trial of Bloodright and gained to Bloodname Pryde.

Recently in the Jade Falcon conflict with the Steel Vipers over occupation territory and the rights of freeborns, Diana Pryde, with her trusty Nova, defeated Steel Viper Khan Perigard Zalman in a 'Mech battle. Zalman was against the Jade Falcons letting freeborns be Warriors, and was even more against Diana personally because she was a freeborn who was allowed to fight for a Bloodname, and that he thought was an abomination, and a sign of Jade Falcon weakness and defiling of their Warrior gene pool.

Diana is friends with Aidan Pryde's longtime companion Star Captain Horse, and she also is friends with the freebirth cursing, and normally scornful and difficult to befriend Star Commander Joanna.

Diana Pryde's favorite 'Mechs to pilot are the Warhawk and the Nova.
