Angela Bekker is a ristar who succeeded in hunting down a ghost bear in the Clawing ritual. During the Clawing, she saved her sibkin Sprange from a mauling by a ghost bear. Later by a plan she devised, she sacrificed several fingers in orger to lure the bear to her so she could spear it. Star Captain Angela Bekker was called to Toffen in the Ghost Bear occuptation zone, one of the planets nearer in the zone to Terra. Bekker was given orders to protect the world under any circumstances. She was told she was picked because of her adaptability, and was ordered to create a Trinary to lead it, and protect or make use of a large collection of supplies that was stored at Fort Del Villar. But the purpose of her orders was vague, and she wondered what might happen to her and her Trinary. Angela Bekker quicky began to carry out the first of her orders - create her new trinary. She hand picked each warrior. Some were unique people, but she picked them for their skills and experience. She picked MechWarriors and Elementals. Soon after assembling all her warriors in a gathering, the name of her unit was decided. MechWarrior Neta came up with the name Stalking Bears and they took it. Some of the warriors in the Stalking Bears trinary did not get along. The young cocky Bethany did not take well with the joking freebirth Gregori. The Nova Cat Bondswoman Neta was difficult to understand because of the parts of her old Clan's way that she would not let go of. The Elemental leader Dolf was old, old enough to be solahma. Some warriors might not want to respect him. Also he thought he had a curse on him to outlive the members of any star he was in. Soon after creating her trinary, Bekker sent them to train, and to train hard. Very hard. She ordered her warriors to do many many sim hours and some grueling 'Mech/Elemental practice with powered down weapons to save ammo and lives. She wanted them to be become a tight knit coordinated unit, rather than a green and unorganised group. She also wanted them to be ready for what might happen - whatever reason they were left alone at Fort Del Villar. After weeks of heavy training, Angela Bekker finally let her tired trinary get some rest. During this period, Neta approached Bekker with some information, and not with regular information. She said the had a Nova Cat style vision while looking into a bonfire. She said that she saw a ghost bear, a one-pawed ghost bear that she thought had to represent Angela Bekker. In the vision, the ghost bear was being stalked, hunted by another beast. Neta thought this vision might be sign of something to come. Star Captain Bekker did not take it super seriously, but figured maybe it could happen. So if it did, she decided to be prepared. Soon Toffen was hailed by Star Colonel Dirk Radick of Clan Wolf who bid a Trinary from his feared elite Blood Drinkers Cluster for a Trial of Posession for the planet. He thought Bekker's trinary would be quick and easy prey and that he would soon have a world to claim for Clan Wolf. Angela gave the venue of the entire continent of Graham which stunned Radick. She was facing great odds, but Angela Bekker would not give up without a hard fight. She would not make it easy for the Wolves to overwelm her forces, and take the supplies at the Fort. She quickly ordered all supplies, and everything of use to be either taken away from Fort Del Villar, or be made unuseable. Fort Del Villar would be abandoned, supplies placed in secret dumps, makeshift repair facilitied emplaced in several secret places, and stars hidden separately on different comm lines. Now Bekker's Trinary lived up the name Stalking Bears. They often waited for the Blood Drinker 'Mechs, intending to only take one star at a time, and at their timing. Sometimes things went against plans, and the first encounter brought one Stalking Bear star against two Blood Drinker stars. Heavy casualties were taken in the Sweep Star. Later battle went better, although each time, the Blood Drinkers became more and more wary and prepared. Damage was taken to both sides, but the Stalking Bears made hit and runs in order to inflict damage on the wolves, and end it once things got too hairy. The method worked though both sided took heavy damage, but slowly the Blood Drinkers were more and more battered, and to the point that they were low on ammunition. Meanwhile Bekker's forces still had enough ammo and better repair provisions. That was the drawing line. Star Colonel Dirk Radicks forces needed repair and ammo. They were low on ammumition, and ran out of most parts. Many of his Trinary's 'Mechs were missing huge amounts of armor, or even weapon pods. Dirk radick decided to lose some honor and send in another fresh Binary. Bekker was stunned to hear that. Both sides were weary and wanting an end to it. But Dirk Radick would not accept loss, and would not give up yet. There would be a final fight, and Angela Bekker made plans. She would use the huge grasses on the Falmouth plain the set fire to Blood Drinker 'Mechs. Bekker granted safcon to Radick's forces into the battle site. Bekker ordered a Star to push attract the Blood Drinkers, and both sides began to fight for all they had. Bekker instructed the fire be set, and it began to engulf some Wolf Mechs, and divert the paths of others. Bekker ordered another Star to flank and surround the Wolf 'Mechs so they could not exit the blaze easily. Both sides fought bitterly and took casualties. Finally, with the Blood Drinkers in battled and fire blackened 'Mechs, Radick heard Bekkers offer of hejira. Reluctantly he accepted, and left the planet ashamed. After her successful defence of Toffen, Bekker and her warriors were given medals. Star Captain Bekker was given opportunity to be promoted to Star Colonel, but she turned it down in rebellion. She disliked that Khan Jorgenssen chose her Trinary to be used as bait to split the Wolf forces while Clan Ghost Bear made headwayinto their territories. She disliked the heavy fighting and loss of life she and her warriors had to endure. Angela Bekker's favorite 'Mech to pilot is the Executioner. |
