The introduction of Sabunov
Whongus studied the landscape from his high view. He sniffed and analyzed the chilly clear morning air. His Star would soon have a new Warrior to its ranks. The fill would most likely be temporary, and would stay while Changav was undergoing testing for a possibly new rank.
This new Mech was an older Warrior, a Timber Wolf. Another Timber Wolf. But this one was a Prime not a Delta. He knew little about this new Mech except that it had been demoted long ago and never was promoted again, and was switched trom unit to unit, even sent on suicide missions, and came back alive.
He wondered what type of things this Mech had done to recieve such judgements from superiors and be sent out expecting to die.
Whongus continued to study the environment. There was a slight trace of weapon spent residues in the southerly blowing cool air. Whongus's entire Mech body enjoyed the chilly air, nice for cooling a warm Mech. He slowly twisted his narrow torso which gave a low forward profile.

Studies
The Old Sabunov
Sabunov was a rugged old machine. She was old, possibly many times as old as Whongus. She was a Mech from one of the first generations of the more complex level of artificially intelligent Mechs brought into Clan toumans. In her past Subanov had been a skilled Warrior desiring rank and eventual leadership. Her skills and smarts were good but for some reason she was passed for promotion too many times. With her age and lack of promotion came a sense of hopelessness. Now Subanov had gone past desparation as a Warrior, with many fears of her come true. With it she had become cold, and removed, yet still carrying out her duties with fine precision skill, and in combat with frighteningly fierce force and deadly accuracy.
Subanov had no friends. All of them were gone and dead or had long left her behind and forgotten her. Many Warriors, Mech and human, at first notice of her age and rank, viewed her as old and useless until they saw her operate first hand.
Subanov had great desire for combat, and with that yearning she sometimes took or made any opportunity she could to fight. That quality of hers could be taken as a downfall, or as a strength.
With her low status and her dreams of glory snuffed out, Subanov feared nothing.
Despite her low rank and regressed social interaction, Subanov had remarkable skill. She was wise also, and she knew tactics and tricks well, and far beyond the realm of many.
Witnessing
Sabunov watched Zanek harrass members of Whongus's Star.
zanek comes by the 14ths area and is a pest.
Later she harrasses and intimidates at the gunnery range.
she does not take it lightly, and also sees opportunity to do the one thing she cares about, fight.
Batchall
Subanov appraches Star Captain Zanek near the gunnery range and challenges her to a duel. Zanek accepts.
