A MechWarrior 3 Story

SETTING: Varied landscape of mountains, hills, cliffs, and open valleys,
VIEWPOINT: Seen from a Timber Wolf, of the D Variant
WILD Variable: Lag
This is just a joke on words..Please do not be offended.
..."It is
the 31st century and mechkind is once again at War.. *drum
roll*...
...A lone Timber Wolf trots a dusty wasteland.. She
walks alertly, studying terrain and watching its sensor displays. As
she heads for a nearby mountain range, sensors pick up nuke reactor
power-ups. The mech continues, mentally preparing for an eneven
fight.
The Timber Wolf cycles through enemy blips, and
detects a Cauldron Born, a Shadow cat, a Nova.. Maybe more are still
shut down..
The Timby thinks cautiously. They lurk behind
the hill. Movement of those mechs is detected. The TWolf begins to
climb the hill and use terrain as cover while the enemy mechs
approach.
The Timber Wolf continues and notices the Cauldron Born A variant
closing in and prepares to face it. As the Cauldron Born gets within SRM range
the Timby fires the locked Streaks over the blocking terrain. The
Timber Wolf watches as the Cauldron Born begins to peek into view
over the hill and SSRMs pound it from the top, and the mech
continues apparently undamaged. Confused, the Timby fires the last
volley it can before the fast-moving Cauldron Born is too close for
effective SSRM use. She fires those off and turns to dodge expected
UAC 20 autocannon blasts from the CB A, and also to face the
Shadowcat Prime racing in hungry for Timby meat.
The SSRMs blast
into the Cauldron Born's front torso and apparentlly do no damage.
Suddenly the Cauldron Born A disappears and reappears 20 meters away,
and the Timby tries to maneuver to avoid the deadly UAC while facing
the little 45 ton Gauss brat ;). The Timby fires at the spunky mech
but it suddenly moves forward way ahead of where the Timby was
aiming. The Timby tries to get past the confusion and attempts to
time the bursts of fast-forward that the Gauss cat displays.
Meanwhile the Cauldron Born A seemingly disoriented, bangs into the
Timby who purposely tried to stay AWAY from it, and the Gauss cat
takes advantage of the Timby slowed down by the impact of the
zippity doo dah CB A and fires a Gauss round at the Timby.
There is the *plwaaaaaarr* sound as the Timber Wolf's right
PPC that had just fired a plasma particle stream into the CB A's
face, flies off in a ribbon of smoke and bits from the gauss hit.
The now one-armed Timby dumb-fires a full grouping of SSRMs into the CBA,
but instead the CB A blasts forward instantaneously and misses the
shots. The missiles instead continue onward and most of them slam
into the Nova as it walks on imperviously and shoots the shadowcat
in the back while trying to hit the Timby. The Timby meanwhile fires
its remaining PPC at the semiconfused Shadowcat as it jumps into the
air and tries to fire Gauss again but instead becomes fixed in place
midair. The Timby thinks *damn wasted the PPC again*, and turns back
to the other mechs as the Gauss cat remains in suspended animation.
She locks onto the Nova as quicky as possible and fires off a group
volley at it, then pelts the invunerable CB A with another particle
blast to the face while it tries to maneuver while firing UAC rounds
and flamer. Some rounds chew into the Timby,s front torso but the
rest fail to hit the target as the CBA needs to turn again to align
its weapons, and the Timber Wolf fires another volley of SRMs at the
Nova. Again the Cauldron Born A fires its UAC, but instead it hits the Nova's
left arm as the Timby adroitly maneuvers behind the UAC mech, intent
on avoiding the deadly chewer.
The Nova stops for a split
second, with its shoulder smoking, wondering why its arm got blasted
off when the Timby was not firing at it.
Suddenly on the
radar there is a flash of motion. The Timby looks to see a Shadowcat
moving at supersonic speeds across the battlefield turning, then
moving straighter, then turning again. Then it heads for the fight
and nearly collides into the Nova and heads for the Timby, then
suddenly turns and races at great velocity away from the fight,
across the valley, and runs straight smak into the cliff across the
valley and walks in place for a second with its face in the cliff
then disappears.
The Timby the fires its SRMs and PPC at the
CBA head on as it continues firing its UAC 20. STILL no damage! The
mech stops over heated from that attempt at UAC assaulting and the
Timby moves behind it to avoid the Nova's lasers, cool down, and
allow her weapons to recharge. The CBA powers back up and the Timber
Wolf fires PPC at the Nova heading around the Cauldron Born.
The CB stands confused for a second, and the Nova and TWolf
engage and the Nova fires Lasers into the Timby's torso. The Timby
tries to maneuver to crummy positions and make the Nova's aim mess
up, and takes advantage of a nearby countryside outhouse to absorb
the next blast.
Suddenly there is an explosion as a zipping
Shadowcat flies through the air at low altitude supersonic speed and
dies midair, throwing off chunks of armor and meltdown engine, then
falls from the sky.
:( * sniff sniff*--no Timby dinner for you
today, Gauss Cat--
The CBA begins to approach the now
separated pair battling by a smoking outhouse on the hilltop,
realising now that it has lasers it can use. The Timby noticing the
welcoming committee locks onto the CBA, and fires the last of her
SSRMs at the aproaching mech. The missiles pound into the mech with
no avail.
The CBA continues forward firing its lasers but
missing. The Timby tries to move behind the Nova and fires PPC into
its face. The Nova returns fire into to Timby's face and sears off
TWolf armor. They continue back down the hill and the CBA follows,
and then, all of a sudden it keels over in a ball of fire.
The Timby checks sensors and data, and realises that she
somehow killed the CBA even though it was 5 seconds since she last
fired on it. 8|
As the Timber Wolf heads for the valley, the
Nova walks onto an outcrop that turns into a cliff similar to the
one that Shadow Cat slammed into with such force. The Timber Wolf
fires PPC up at the Nova that walks on imperviosly looking the
Timby's way. The Nova then group fires into the Timby's leg and the
Timby falls over from the sudden damage to a focused area.
The Timby gets slowly rises up and looks up to face the
enemy...and sees the Nova lunge off the cliff with its feet headed
straight for her canopy. The Timby Aims her PPC to fire up at it but
the other mech lands on her head before it can happen. There is a
big thump, and jolt and the Timby,s torso is tossed to an odd angle.
The Timby then tries to straightenup and fire that precious last PPC.
She fires it into the Nova's back as it recovers from its torso
having bumped into the Timby's nose while landing. The mech then
turns around and falls over as it bumps into the Timby again. It
gets back up and starts to turn back toward the hill and the Timby
tries to aim its PPC again. The Nova begins to walk, not seeing
where the Timber Wolf is, just intent on going back to the hilltop..
It collides into the Timby's undamaged side torso.
Suddenly
the Timber Wolf keels over and dies probably because its side torso
armor suddenly gave way to the impact. The Nova stands next to the
carcass spouting burning chunks, confused as to why it did not work
when it tried to DFA but the then mech died from a small bump to a
full torso. The Nova thinks "And why.... why did I not think of
using jump jets..?"
